volcano no. 6, in blue

abstract art

i have no words… this new piece is oil on canvas, with shimmering mica. no brush was used – i applied the paint to a wax paper sheet and folded it like a Rorschach, then smushed and fuddled it around. i then transferred the paint to canvas by applying the wax sheet and creating a vacuum seal with the paint between the wax sheet and canvas. i smushed; i fuddled. peeled it up and voilà, volcano! then i salted it with sparkling mica for extra effect.

A captivating piece that beautifully balances intensity and tranquility. The rich blue palette transforms the raw power of the volcano into something reflective and almost meditative. It’s a wonderful reminder that even the most powerful forces of nature can inspire moments of calm and creativity. Truly impressive work!!!

The colors are so rich and it does remind of a true volcano. And most of all the terrific energy released from the earth’s interior that we all forget until it suddenly is in front of us.
